Education at Lawrencefield Parish Church

Sunday School

​

At Lawrencefield we recognize that children are not only special to God but are also future leaders. Most families with children choose to worship at our 10:00 AM service. Children from infancy to middle school meet during the Liturgy of the Word and rejoin their parents in church so that families may receive Communion together. Children who are baptized are encouraged to receive communion.

 

Special events for children include our July 3rd Fireworks viewing, our annual Fall picnic, and our Halloween Party. (Grown-ups are welcome too!)

Youth

​

Confirmation Class is available for youth who who wish to make a mature affirmation of faith. The youth are encouraged to discern their  area of ministry and service within the church. Many serve as acolytes to assist in the Sunday liturgy. Other service as well as recreational opportunities are explored.

Adults

​

Adult Education is offered seasonally between the 9 and 9:45 am on Sunday morning. In addition, Lenten study programs are offered seasonally in conjunction with the St Luke's and  are held at St. Matthew's Church on Chapline Street in Wheeling

Diocesan Programs

​

Lawrencefield supports educational programs of the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia taking place at the Sandscrest Conference and Retreat Center, located just over the hill in Wheeling West Virginia (http://www.sandscrest.com); (Our Rector is the Spiritual Director of Sandscrest)

and at Peterkin Camp and Conference Center, located in Romney, WV (http://www.peterkin.org).
